Schools & Neighborhoods

While BCF supports schools and nonprofit partners across the region, we strategically select a small number of target school communities in which to make multi-year, multi-pronged investments. In selected school communities, we work closely with local and civic leadership to understand residents’ own vision for improving school quality and quality of life in the surrounding neighborhood. We use a broad range of tools to support these communities, including grants for schools, school enrichment partners, community development corporations, and nonprofit support organizations; impact investments in community development projects; advocacy for enhanced public investments; and the ability to engage a wide range of additional partners and resources.
In 2019, we launched targeted investments in three school communities:
- Calvin Rodwell Elementary/Middle School, Howard Park
- Liberty Elementary School, Forest Park
- Dorothy I. Height Elementary School, Penn North/Reservoir Hill.
